Background

Dr. Kumar is an associate professor of Mathematics at the College of Charleston, South Carolina. Before joining the college, he held various research positions at Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), SINTEF, IMATI-Istituto di Matematica Applicata e Tecnologie Informatiche "Enrico Magenes"-CNR, and Indian Institute of Technology Delhi.

    Education

    Research

My research interests are related to Numerical Analysis and Scientific Computing. I have focused on design and analysis of highly efficient and robust numerical methods for solving partial differential equations. In past, I have worked on the following research projects:

  • Large Scale Thermal Energy Storage (LS-TES) project

R & D challenge: Develop Finite Element Analysis Capabilities that Enables Coupled Thermal Stress Analysis and Heat Transfer Through Solids. NEST AS Project on Thermal Energy Storage, funded by Research Council of Norway and Industrial Partners (see www.energy-nest.com).
  • NOWITECH Project on Offshore Wind Technology

Adaptive Methods For Accurate CFD-Simulations of Aerodynamic Loads On Offshore Wind Turbines. NOWITECH Project on Offshore Wind Technology, funded by Research Council of Norway and Industrial Partners (see www.sintef.no/projectweb/nowitech).
  • GEOPDEs Project

Innovative Compatible Discretization Techniques For Partial Differential Equations GEOPDEs Project, funded by European Research Council, (see www.geopdes.apnetwork.it).
